This Cheesy Breakfast Monkey Bread With Sausage and Eggs is the perfect breakfast recipe or brunch idea with friends and family!
There’s nothing better than waking up on Christmas morning to the smell of breakfast cooking in the kitchen. It’s like a pre-game for the feast that you know is going to go down later on. Now that we’re the ones making the Christmas morning breakfast, we have a duty to make it extra special for those who will be enjoying it. This Cheesy Breakfast Monkey Bread With Sausage and Eggs is definitely going to be that special treat for me.
A: It’s in the shape of a wreath, so it’s visually festive. Add a few sprigs of rosemary or pine around the plate and you’ve really outdone yourself.
B: It’s cheap and easy.
C: Everyone will love it. It’s interactive, and your guests will have a blast sitting around it with their coffee, chatting about their favorite presents. I can just see it now.
I chose to use turkey sausage for my monkey bread, partially because I didn’t want it to be too greasy and partially because I don’t want you to ruin your appetite completely before the main event.
Obviously, you can make this any time of year, but it’s particularly great for when you have to feed a crowd. Easter brunch would be great, too! I hope you enjoy it!
Life is too short, so try not to hover on the stove worrying about the food all day. Spend time with your families, making those special holiday memories.

Cheesy Breakfast Monkey Bread With Sausage and Eggs
Ingredients
- For Monkey Bread
- 1 (16 oz.) can of refrigerated biscuits
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 6 large eggs, soft scrambled
- ½ pound turkey breakfast sausage, cooked
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- For Cheese Sauce
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 Tbsp Flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- fresh chives for garnish
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook sausage and eggs; set aside.
Remove biscuits from the package and cut into sixths.
Place biscuit pieces in a large bowl and toss with 4 Tbsp. melted butter.
Add scrambled eggs, sausage, and shredded cheese, and toss to combine. I like to use my hands and make sure all of the biscuits are separated and coating in butter and eggs and sausage are evenly distributed.
Pour mixture into a greased 6 cup bundt pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Cool in pan 5-10 minutes, then use a knife or spatula to loosen edges.
Invert bread onto a plate.
For Cheese Sauce
Melt butter in a small saucepan. When it's bubbly, add flour and whisk continuously until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Whisk in milk so there are no lumps. Continue to whisk until thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in cheese until melted and add salt and pepper to taste.
Drizzle the finished cheese sauce on top of the slightly cooled monkey bread.
Top with chives and serve immediately.

The Cheesy Breakfast Monkey Bread looks interesting but is there any make-ahead steps you would endorse? Have you thought of using two mini-bundt pans baked in a slowcooker like the Foodi? Or make it up to the sauce step, refrigerate overnight, then bake while you are starting your day? How have time might that add to the baking time?

This was fantastic. I made it with a full pound of hot sausage because we’re big meat eaters and it still turned out wonderfully. Thank you for sharing!

The monkey bread itself was good and easy to make. However, the sauce curdled for me and I couldn't use it. Maybe freshly grated cheese is the key or letting the mixture cool before adding the cheese. Either way, I made up a quick white gravy to pour on top and that was really good! I will try it again Thanks!

Hi, Amanda! So sorry the sauce didn't work out for you! I've never had that trouble but I've also tried it with a white gravy and it's delicious!
