I’m in complete awe that in just 2 days, we will have a new year with endless possibilities on the horizon. I’ve always loved the beginning of the new year. As a Virgo, I thrive off of to-do lists and fresh starts and I’m so excited to gas up my creativity tank and get to work on making My Modern Cookery bigger and better. 2018 was by far the best year of my life. In January, we told the world that we would be adding a baby to our family. It felt like the perfect way to set the tone for how much our lives would actually be changing this year.
In February, I really hit the ground running working on my cookbook. For the next few months, I spent many late nights writing chapters, testing recipes, and taking photos.
In April, we took our babymoon to Martha’s Vineyard where we decided that we would be naming our sweet baby girl Norah Jane. It was one of my favorite memories of the year and I’ll always cherish it!
In June, we had our baby shower and it was hot hot hot lol.
Then, on July 20th we welcomed our baby into the world. I could not be more grateful for the amazing pregnancy and labor and delivery I had because I know that’s not often the case. We spent the next couple of months in that hazy newborn phase where I was spoiled rotten by my husband and we binged all the Queer Eye and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel we could handle.
The end of the year has been so incredibly fun and memorable. Seeing your child experience all of their “firsts” is one of life’s greatest pleasures. We had a fall bonfire in October and of course, Thanksgiving and Christmas were amazing.
My BOOK comes out in two days (WHAT?!?!?!?) and I’m hoping that’s just the tip of the iceberg for what 2019 holds. I can’t thank you all enough for letting me call this my job and I’m so lucky that I get to do what I love every day and also be able to stay at home with my baby. THANK YOU SO MUCH. If there are any recipes or any other content you’d like to see from me, don’t hesitate to leave me a request and let me know what your favorite part of 2018 was!
Happy New Year!
