Thorntons. Real Kitchen. Real Food.

Hello, Everyone! Today I’m coming at you with a very special post. As you may know, I reside in lovely Louisville, Ky. Louisville is also home to many well-known events (The Kentucky Derby) and establishments (Louisville Slugger) as well as some you may not realize. Also based in Louisville, Kentucky is Thorntons! They currently operate 183 stores that provide fresh food high-quality beverages and fuel in six states: Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida. You probably best know them for their fuel and incredible Refreshing Rewards Program, but all that is about to change.

In August 2016, Thorntons launched their Real Kitchen. Real Food. initiative. The Fresh Food program is beginning at select Thorntons stores throughout Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana where guests can enjoy freshly prepared food by cooks in a REAL kitchen within the store. Some of the amazing eats include hot pretzels, breakfast and lunch burritos, pizza sticks, and delicious donuts. Everything is handcrafted with high-quality ingredients and provides the convenience for everyone.

I had the opportunity to visit a grand-opening event on September 15th at the newly redesigned 1335 S. Hurstbourne Parkway store. I was welcomed with smiling faces and the amazing scent of fresh food being prepared. I proceeded to sample my way through the store and left feeling VERY satisfied. I have to say, I’ve never been drawn to convenience store food in the past (I’m a picky foodie, obviously), but I can honestly say that the food with the Thorntons Real Kitchen. Real Food. program is wonderful. If I had to pick a favorite item I think it would have to be the hot pretzel or maple bacon donut… yes, they have a MAPLE BACON DONUT. It’s everything. Besides the fact that the quality of the food is top notch, the prices are incredible. You can seriously get a full lunch for under $3 if you need to. AND they have pumpkin coffee that is WAY better than “you know who” and it’s under a buck.
