Wakey, wakey! It’s time to get out of bed and start your day out on the right foot. If you’re laying in bed scrolling on your phone right now, get up before you accidentally fall back asleep. Now, it’s time for breakfast! If you’re anything like I used to be, that means grabbing a banana and some coffee on the way out of the door. Seriously, that’s not enough to keep you going until lunch. What you need are these Chai Cold Brew Overnight Oats that you can make the night before to have the next morning, even if you’re running really late.
For this recipe, I wanted to do a twist on a dirty chai, which meant that I needed a simple way to get a little bit of chilled coffee. When I was bopping through the Target coffee aisle (as one does), I found the Dunkin’ Donuts Cold Brew Coffee packs nestled right alongside all of the other coffee options. Let me tell you, it’s the perfect thing for this recipe. You only need 1/4 cup of cold brew for this recipe, so you can make the whole batch, and have the rest to sip with your overnight oats all week long! It’s so easy to make, you’ll wonder why you haven’t been making your coffee this way all along. Here’s how you brew it:
Step 1: Put 2 Coffee Filter packs (1 pouch) into a pitcher
Step 2: Fill the pitcher with 4 cups of cold water
Step 3: Steep it in the fridge overnight, or for 8–12 hours
Step 4: When it’s done steeping, remove the filters and add 3 more cups of
cold water. Customize and enjoy!
I feel like I need to point out that I’m a total coffee snob and I LOVE this cold brew. I’ve purchased a lot of bottles of cold brew concentrate and none seem to have the smooth flavor that I look for in my coffee. If you follow all of the steps correctly, it doesn’t have a bitter or acidic taste at all and it’s so easy to drink. I wish I would have had something this quick and easy when I worked in an office because I could never get myself out of the house on time.
I’m so so happy that there’s now a pumpkin variety also available for purchase at Target! I’m already dreaming of my next target run where I pick up all the fall decor, candles, and pumpkin spiced food. Join me in crossing your fingers that your Target store was one of the select hundred chosen to stock this delicious fall variation! BTW, you could substitute the pumpkin flavor for the original cold brew in this recipe and also swap the greek yogurt out for pumpkin puree and have the most epic pumpkin chai cold brew overnight oats of life. You’re welcome. These oats are going to be a staple in your busy morning routine and I can’t wait for you to try them!
